Volunteerism

CapitaLand is a strong advocate of staff volunteerism. CapitaLand organises a series of volunteer programmes to interact with vulnerable children and elderly supported by CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF) and staff volunteer their time and skills to facilitate the activities.

CapitaLand is one of the first companies in Singapore to formalise a three-day Volunteer Service Leave (VSL) system and expand its leave policy to include Volunteer No Pay Leave and Volunteer Part-Time Leave in May 2006. To further promote the spirit of volunteerism, CapitaLand recognises volunteer service rendered by staff beyond office hours.

CapitaLand staff volunteered more than 190,000 hours in Asia and beyond from 2007 to 2021. In 2021, more than 1,650 CapitaLand staff tapped on the VSL policy to volunteer over 16,400 hours1 in various activities in Asia and beyond.

As part of CapitaLand's efforts to recognise and acknowledge staff's social contribution as volunteers for charitable and green-related causes, CHF will make a donation to a registered Singapore/ China/ India-based charity or International Non-Profit Organisation (INPO) of the staff's choice if the staff has taken all three days of Volunteer Service Leave within the year. In 2021, 94 staff qualified for this donation incentive and CHF pledged to donate about S$31,400.

Based on post-volunteer event surveys in 2020, 90% of the respondents feel proud working in CapitaLand, and enjoy working in a company with a positive and vibrant corporate culture.

In 2021, CapitaLand held various activities under #LoveOurSeniors initiative in Singapore. Watch the video highlights below to find out more about the activities.

Through the stories of the beneficiaries, we see how CapitaLand volunteers helped them and their children to have a better living environment where the children can concentrate with a proper study corner.
