July 2006:
CapitaLand Charity Bazaar, Singapore
CapitaLand became one of the first private organizations to tie up with the Singapore Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre under the ComCare Connection Programme, to provide social programmes to help volunteer welfare organizations. CapitaLand was paired up with Canossaville Children’s Home. Two volunteer activities were held under this partnership. The first was a workshop where 16 CapitaLand staff volunteers taught about 35 underprivileged children how to make handcrafted necklaces, bracelets and beaded rings. The second event was a charity bazaar organised by staff volunteers which took place on 30 July 2006 at Plaza Singapura. The funds raised were channelled to Canossaville Children’s Home. Individual stalls were manned by staff volunteers and their family members with the aim of enhancing family bonding through charitable projects. Volunteers contributed by dressing up new teddy bears in specially designed garb and donated branded neckties, CDs autographed by original artistes, clothes, books etc for charity sale.
