CapitaLand Gushan Hope School, Shaanxi (孤山凯德希望小学)
Year of Completion: 2012
Number of student beneficiaries: 220
Due to prolonged use of the old school block and earthquake, cracks had appeared in parts of CapitaLand Gushan Hope School, hence there is a danger of unstable foundation which might lead to a collapse. Students put up in make-shift container classrooms which occupied the basketball court, limiting the use of the court for recreational purpose. With CHF’s funding, the old school block was torn down to make way for a new four-storey school block with 12 classrooms, and a new three-storey building which can house 9 rooms. The rooms will be used for pre-school, hostel and teachers’ room. The built area constitutes about 888-square-metre. The school, completed in 2012, has a capacity of over 220 students from six nearby villages.
