    CapitaLand Tucheng Hope School, Chongqing (土城凯德希望小学)

    Year of Completion: 2013
    Number of student beneficiaries: 350

    CapitaLand Tucheng Hope School, located in Chongqing's Wu Xi County, has old school blocks that are listed as Grade-D buildings with impairments. The school dormitory is also inadequate to cater to the school population, resulting in widespread influenza and other dieases. With the help of CHF, a new school block and dormitory are being built to provide a pleasant learning and living environment for over 350 students. 

  • GUANGDONG 广东

    CapitaLand Lianjiao Hope School, Qingxin, Guangdong (禅城凯德联滘希望小学)

    Year of Completion: 2009
    Number of student beneficiaries: 600

    The original school building, built in 1933, is one of the oldest in the county. It has a large student population of about 600 students, resulting in a lack of study facilities. CHF donated to build a new 3-storey extension block comprising 9 classrooms to alleviate over population. In November 2009, staff volunteers went to the school to convert and refurbish an old classroom into a library-cum-reading room for the students.

    CapitaLand Daping Hope School, Daping, Guangdong (大坪凯德希望小学)

    Year of Completion: 2014
    Number of student beneficiaries: 450

    CapitaLand Daping Hope School was established in 1954 to serve the villages within 20-kilometre radius area around it. Prior to CHF's assistance, 124 stay-in students could only sleep in their worn-down classrooms. CHF funded a 700-square-metre dormitory to improve their quality of life and a 100-square-metre kitchen. Targets to be completed in 2014. 

    CapitaLand Tiantouyong Hope School, Guangdong (田头埇凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: 230

    CapitaLand Tiantouyong Hope School, located in Maoming city of Guangdong, has an old school block that was often flooded, and it hence became structurally unsafe for the students. CHF donated to build a new school block after learning about the school's predicament. The new building will benefit over 230 students and teachers.

  • HUBEI 湖北

    CapitaLand Kongjiafang Hope, Hubei (孔家坊凯德希望小学)

    CapitaLand Kongjiafang Hope School is located in Yinshan county of Wuhan. Huanggang City is the hometown of printing inventor Bi Sheng. It is a full-day complete primary school serving five administrative villages. Its dilapidated main school building has been classified unsafe for use after being seriously damaged by torrential rain in July 2013. Therefore, CapitaLand donates to build a new school building to provide a safe and better study environment for more than 325 students.

    CapitaLand Chengmagang Hope School, Hubei (乘马岗凯德希望小学)

    CapitaLand Chengmagang Hope School is one of the oldest public schools in Ma Cheng City. CHF has donated to rebuild a two-storey school block with eight classrooms over 450-square-metre of site area. The built area will span 900-square-metre with a new 300-square-metre canteen funded by CHF; and some of the facilities will be re-designed to foster better learning environment. More than 630 students from nearby villages will benefit from the revamped school block.

    CapitaLand Zhongxiang Hope School, Hubei (钟祥市凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: Over 300

    CapitaLand Zhongxiang Hope School is situated at Chai Hu Town,  Zhong Xiang City, and caters to the schooling needs of children from four surrounding villages. 
    The school has a kindergarten and a primary school. The original school block, built in 1966, was listed as a Grade-C building, and the number of classrooms could not satisfy the demand of a growing student population. CapitaLand donated to build a three-storey school block to facilitate the learning needs of over 300 students. 

  • INNER MONGOLIA 内蒙古

    CapitaLand Duolun Hope School, Duolun, Inner Mongolia (多伦凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: 530

    CapitaLand Duolun Hope School, located in Duolun county which is about 350km or 9 hours’ drive from Beijing, is first built in 1996 with a 45,000-square-metre compound. Due to a sharp rise in student population, the school faced capacity shortage. With the donation from CHF to build a school field, basketball court and multi-media room in 2010, the students are able to study in a more conducive environment with better lighting and ventilation.

    CapitaLand Xingfuzhilu Hope School, Chifeng, Inner Mongolia (幸福之路凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: 350

    Located in north of Chi Feng city, which is about 700km or 10 hours’ drive from Beijing, CapitaLand Xingfuzhilu Hope School is divided into a Han-stream school and a Mongolian-stream school. The new classroom blocks, teacher’s offices, canteens and dormitories donated by CHF bring a new lease of life to the school lives of the students. CapitaLand staff volunteers first visited the school in 2011, and went on to implement a water project in the school in 2012 to improve their living conditions.

  • JIANGSU 江苏

    CapitaLand Hanhuang Hope School, Jiangsu (汉皇凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: 450

    CapitaLand Hanhuang Hope School is located in Liu Sai village, which is known as the hometown of historical figure Liu Bei. Because there is no school canteen, and the students stay rather far from the schoool, the students had to travel home to take their lunch each day, inconveniencing parents to send them around. CHF funded a brand new school canteen with quality facilities to ensure the schoolchildren take their meals regularly and focus well in the school. 

  • SHAANXI 陕西

    CapitaLand Gushan Hope School, Shaanxi (孤山凯德希望小学)

    Year of Completion: 2012
    Number of student beneficiaries: 220

    Due to prolonged use of the old school block and earthquake, cracks had appeared in parts of CapitaLand Gushan Hope School, hence there is a danger of unstable foundation which might lead to a collapse. Students put up in make-shift container classrooms which occupied the basketball court, limiting the use of the court for recreational purpose. With CHF’s funding, the old school block was torn down to make way for a new four-storey school block with 12 classrooms, and a new three-storey building which can house 9 rooms. The rooms will be used for pre-school, hostel and teachers’ room. The built area constitutes about 888-square-metre. The school, completed in 2012, has a capacity of over 220 students from six nearby villages.

    CapitaLand Tangfangzhen Hope School, Shandong (唐坊镇凯德希望小学)

    CapitaLand Tangfangzhen Hope School, located in Gaoqing county of Shandong province, is a full-day primay-cum-secondary school. The original school building was run down and beyond repair. CHF donated to build a new school block to improve the learning environment of the students. The school serves the county with a population of more than 10,000 residents. Targets to be completed in 2014.

  • SICHUAN 四川

    CapitaLand Muchuan Green Hope School, Muchuan, Sichuan (沐川凯德绿色希望小学)

    Year of Completion: 2009
    Number of student beneficiaries: 300

    China's first Green Hope School and CapitaLand's first award-winning environmentally friendly Hope School. For its involvement in rebuilding the school, CapitaLand won the Best Developer (CSR) Award at 2009 Cityscape Award for Real Estate in Asia. 

    This school, located in Leshan city of Muchuan county, is a replacement for the one that was destroyed by the 2008 Sichuan earthquake in China. The 6,000-square-metre gross floor area includes a new dormitory for teachers and students. 

    CapitaLand held a design competition and invited top 10 architectural universities in China to participate. Tianjin University students' design was selected and implemented with the help of CHF's funding. Judges for the architecture competition included world renowned architects Stephen Pimbley and Toyo Ito.

    Green features: • Use of local and recycled materials - this includes using local crops to form part of the insulation, which works effectively both in the hot summer and cold winter • A rainwater collection and recycling system • Stacking classroom layout promotes natural ventilation and lighting on a hilly landscape.

    "Hope Rising From Rubble" 

    CapitaLand Earthquake Relief Hope School, Mianzhu, Sichuan (凯德置地抗震希望小学)

    Year of Completion: 2008
    Number of student beneficiaries: 1050

    CapitaLand Earthquake Relief Hope School was built to provide immediate relief for students affected by the Sichuan earthquake in 2008. CapitaLand donated S$1 million for disaster relief after the earthquake. Part of the donation was used to construct 40 special temporary classrooms which are able to withstand earthquakes of low magnitude. Compared to ordinary buildings, the classroom blocks can be built in a shorter period of time. With this school, students resumed their studies two months after the earthquake in Gongxing town.

    "Mission of Hope" 

    CapitaLand Donghua Hope School, Zigong, Sichuan (东华凯德希望小学)

    Year of Completion: 2009
    Number of student beneficiaries: Over 200

    Due to the catastrophic Sichuan earthquake in May 2008, the school was severely damaged. CHF's donation went towards rebuilding classrooms, dormitory, canteen and library, greatly improving the conditions for 201 students and 6 teachers. Staff volunteers organised a volunteer expedition in 2009 to encourage these schoolchildren who were affected by the earthquake to forge ahead in life. 

    CapitaLand Longdong Hope School, Guangyuan, Sichuan (龙洞凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: 820

    The original school building built in 1952 was not quake-resistant. When the Sichuan earthquake hit in May 2008, the school was severely damaged and graded as a D-class building in danger of collapsing. CHF contributed to the rebuilding of the school after the disaster. The school occupies an area of 7,366-square-metre and serves 11 villages with a population of about 200,000. About half of the students live in the dormitory. 

    CapitaLand Tianxing Hope School, Guangyuan, Sichuan (天星凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: 1200

    The school originally has an enrolment of 550 students in 12 classes, and most of the students live in the school dormitory for convenience. When the Sichuan earthquake hit in May 2008, the demand for dormitory shot up to 1,200 students as dormitories in nearby schools had collapsed. But as the school dormitory itself was damaged due to the earthquake, all the students had to seek accommodation in the surrounding villages. CHF rebuilt a new school dormitory sprawling 1,189-square-metre to cater to their needs. 

  • TIANJIN 天津

    CapitaLand Tianpingzhuang Hope School, Tianjin (天平庄凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: 360

    CapitaLand Tianpingzhuang Hope School saw a surge in student intake in recent years and needed more classrooms to meet the demand. Due to the crunch, students began using two defunct school blocks. The existing school building is dilapidated and in need of uplifting. Under CHF’s help, a school extension has been built; the rooftops are reconstructed, windows are replaced, floors are tiled and heaters are installed for 360 students from four villages in the region to enjoy a better and safer learning environment. The school block now boosts a built floor area of 626-square-metre. 

  • XINJIANG 新疆

    CapitaLand Tushala Hope School, Hotan, Xinjiang (吐沙拉凯德希望小学)

    Year of Completion: 2013
    Number of student beneficiaries: 495

    CapitaLand Tushala Hope School, located in Hotan county of Xinjiang province, will benefit about 495 underprivileged students and teachers when new school facilities donated by CHF are built. The school faced a shortage of classrooms, and was unable to conduct lessons in dual languages (local language and Mandarin).

  • YUNNAN 云南

    CapitaLand Lancang Hope School, Lancang, Yunnan (澜沧凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: Over 200

    Situated in Donglangxiang Fumin village with a predominant Hani ethnic group, this is Lancang county's only primary school. CHF built a new classroom block and sponsored a new computer laboratory. All the students were presented with schoolbags and stationery at the opening ceremony, and bedding and blankets were sponsored for over 60 students staying in the dormitory. 

    CapitaLand Simao Hope School, Simao, Yunnan(思茅凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: Over 200

    CapitaLand's first Hope School built in China. As the only school in Nanping town, a remote area in Simao county, students come from nineteen villages nearby. A new student dormitory was constructed with CHF's funding. CHF also sponsored a new computer laboratory. The total school area is 9,332-square-metre with the dormitory occupying 1,700-square-metre. 

    CapitaLand Huangmaoling Hope School, Honghezhou, Yunnan (上海凯德黄茅岭希望小学)

    Located in Yunyang county, this school serves one of the poorest regions in Yunnan. The original school building was built in 1971; the school covers an area of 7,999-square-metre with a building compound measuring 2,547-square-metre. A new classroom block donated by CHF was built to enhance the learning environment. The children were provided with new schoolbags and stationery at the opening ceremony of the new facility. 

  • ZHEJIANG 浙江

    CapitaLand Yuyuezhen Hope School, Zhejiang (禹越镇凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: 1100

    CapitaLand Yuyuezhen Hope School is originally located in an industrial area, and the toxic discharged from surrounding factories negatively impacted the health of the students and teachers. Moreover as the school was built on low terrains, the old school would be flooded during the monsoon season. To improve the lives of the students, CapitaLand Yuyuezhen Hope School moved to Yuyue town, where CHF supported the building of a new classroom block to benefit more than 1,100 students and teachers. Targets to be completed in 2014.

    CapitaLand Jinzhu Hope School, Zhuchang, Zhejiang (金竹凯德希望小学)

    Number of student beneficiaries: 700

    This primary school in Jinzhu town originally enrolls 347 students in 10 classes. Under government planning, two primary schools in the town were merged with this school and boosted a total of over 600 students in 12 classes. To help the school cope with overcapacity, CHF donated to expand the school tower and classroom blocks, adding 1,500-square-metre of gross floor area. 

    CapitaLand Xiecun Hope School, Lishui, Zhejiang (谢村凯德希望小学)

    Year of Completion: 2011
    Number of student beneficiaries: 240

    Located in Songyang town of Lishui city, the school is responsible for the education of children living in 11 villages across the town. The school faced a lack of facilities for 240 students and 13 teachers. The original school building with 7 classrooms was built using mixed cement in 1988; it was graded C-class in danger of collapsing. CHF donated to build a new school tower to cater to their education needs.
